DEFINITIVE TECHNOLOGY ProMonitor 800 Black (PAIR) Surround Speakers (42113-1&2)

    Def Tech’s Perfect Surrounds
Def Tech out done themselves with the Pro Monitor 800’s. The Pro Monitor 80’s were the 1st generation surrounds and were missing something. The 800’s have a 3-1/2” passive woofer on top to disperse the low frequencies of the speaker. The first time I heard them I was blown away and sold on them. Since my main fronts, front heights and center channels are Def Techs it was an easy decision to remain with all Def Techs up front. I bought the Pro Monitor 800’s to be my front wide speakers. I’ll tell you..., it was an excellent decision because my front Def Tech 7002’s are bi-polar and the 800’s push low frequencies out of the front and on top. Giving it a nice surround sound up high. The 800’s have a lot of body and with two SuperCube II subs they sound like a large speaker. In all my days in hi-end a/v I sold a lot of Pro Cinema 800’s but, I talked almost everyone out of buying the Pro Sub 800 Subwoofer and replacing it with a SuperCube III. The SuperCube subs really make the Pro Mon 800’s sound like a large floor standing speaker with body. If you didn’t see the speakers you wouldn’t even know they are satellites.

Pangea Audio AC 9 MKII Power Cable with 20 Amp Plug - 1.0 Meter

    Pangea or PS Audio???
I used to use PS Audio Power cables till I didn’t need all those 2m cables behind my system taking up too much space. I needed 1.0m power cables and that’s when I was introduced to Pangea AC 9 MK II Power Cable. I think that they are about the same but, you can’t beat Pangea’s price and it’s a 7AWG cable to boot. I put them on my pre/pro, amps and line conditioners. I kept swapping out the two to see which one I liked better but, I couldn’t tell. I love the power it lets my components perform at like the PS Audio’s did. I now have all hi-end AQ and Pangea cables running my uncanny system. I’ve been using them for years now and can’t find a better cable. I did notice as the weeks went by that my system kept coming more and more alive as I broke them in. Now I can say they are a phenomenal cable no matter which cable you’re using. I could hear the sticks hit the symbols, bass being plucked by soft calloused fingers and the pick whale on guitar strings during a confident solo like Angus Young does. This is one area that you can cut corners and save a few bucks by buying Pangea cables because they are as hi-end as they come but, lower on price. The rule of thumb is to spend at least 10% in accessories (cables, speaker cables, speaker & subwoofer riser stands, line conditioners, fans, etc.) from what you spend on your components, amps, pre/pros, subs, speakers, etc. total. Do not skimp out on your accessories. If you do your system will not sound like it should and it’s very noticeable to your ear. The only time you will notice it sound a little better is when you hit the break in point but, that will fade also. Accessories are very important to a great audio visual experience. Cables are the veins to your rig and you want your blood to flow freely and have no resistance for the possibility of break down.
Mirage LF-100 Powered Subwoofer, See Video !

Mirage LF- 100 The Mini Monster
I have two Mirage LF- 100 subwoofers for my rear subs and this sub is way underrated. I have Mirage FRX-5’s and 3’s stacked as my surrounds each sitting on an ISO 4” stands to isolate the LFE to stay in the room and not travel around the house with flutter. For my rear back surrounds I have on each side of the room an ISO base set at 4” high that I put the LF-100 on. This is to keep the bass in the room with a steady thump-boom. Instead of traveling around the house with a distorted flutter. Then I have another ISO 4” base stand on the LF-100 with a 36” stand on top of that. I put FRX-1’s on the stands for rear backs. It sounds like a tower speaker and the LF-100’s have an extremely low steady vibrating bass sound. This sub is very underrated for all that bass that is produced from them. The LF-100 sounds like a 12” sub with a snap back to catch the next frequency note. I have two Def Tech SuperCube II’s up front, a 12” sub in my BP 7002’s and two LF-100’s in the rear that give the SC’s a run for their money around the 100Hz range. I love the way the LF-100’s perform in the rear. It’s perfect for the SC II’s to start the LFE trembling and fade into the LF-100’s to disappear for the next frequency to come in. I love those subs and as long as they are performing perfectly I have no reason to change. I prefer an 8” Subwoofer because it sounds deep but snaps back quickly enough to grab the next note without crossing over from the last response to the next. I think Mirage’s FRX and LF Series were one of their best models made..., and for the price, you can’t beat it.
