Memento Mori and the meaning of life.
Understanding the true meaning of some of Depeche Mode's songs is like understanding the meaning of life: it's a mystery. But we know there is meaning because we feel it in our heart and soul. Backed by Gore's sweet soul-searching sounds, Gahan croons with integrity and gravitas into the cosmos creating sublime harmonies which I hope Fletch can hear. I highly recommend Memento Mori to all mortals ears, as I do all Depeche Mode albums (okay maybe not the first 2). DM's music makes this painful earthly exisyence more palatable.

Puts a spring in your piano learning steps
Pam Wedgewood's book get mixed reviews but I'm glad I decided to give this one a go. I think any strong negative ones may be down to a bit of snobbery about her arrangements. But remember this is a tutor book and CD for an 'established beginner' and as such, I'm happy to be eased into Jazz styles rather than wowed by the music. It's a great springboard into developing your technique. It's a shame it doesn't have performance tracks for all the pieces but there's enough on the CD overall to give guidance and inspiration.

Neither dumbs down nor intimidates. Just right for the older improver.
This book is pretty much perfect for the older 'improver' who can read music. It has inspiring and varied pieces, a CD to hear the pieces and also provide stimulus if you want to have a go at improvising. Also contains useful study exercises and tips for playing. None of it is dumbed down but neither is it intimidating. Great!
