The Talented Mr Ripley
Not the 'crash bang wallop' of what we have come to expect from Mr Damon. Nevertheless, a good, thinking wo/man's movie, showing that the boy can act!

The Wire - Series 2
Start at the very beginning - it's a very good place to start! After viewing Series 1 of The Wire I was hooked. Buying boxed sets has its disadvantages when it comes to modern day classics such as The Wire: you've got to watch then continuously! Well before Series 2 you should be right into the intricate story lines and marvel at the excellent acting and directing. US TV cop dramas really are the business.
