TFO TFR NTR III CG Silver 7/8wt Fly Reel | Lifetime Warranty - FREE SHIPPING

Solid Value
This is a budget reel that delivers better than budget quality. The porting and machining do not look or feel quite as finished and smooth as a Lamson Guru S or a Redington Grande, but this reel is half the price of those, so it shouldn't be expected to match that level of finish quality. The drag is smooth and consistent, maybe a bit limited in range light to tight, but more than adequate for most any fishing that would be done with a 6/7/8 wt reel. The handle is a bit slick when wet, being metal, but it's not difficult to grasp or turn. The reel is a solid value at its price point; ideal for novices starting out in the sport or as an inexpensive backup reel for folks who don't have deep pockets to spend big money on a reel that will almost never be used.

Smooth and strong.
I've used Garcia casting reels for almost 40 years, Shimano for over 20. With mostly saltwater use, only occasional freshwater the reels get tested. This reel leaves nothing to be desired in initial quality. It's smooth, both retrieve and free spool. I don't use the cast controls, so can't comment on that myself, but it works very well for my youngest son, who is presently learning how to use a casting reel. The drag is one of the smoothest and most consistent I've ever used, superior to a Calcutta or the older Ambassadors models. It has handled a number of large snook and jacks without any bumps, catches, or surges, regardless of pressure. Great reel. The only thing I can't comment on, yet, is long term durability. I have a few Ambassadors that are over 20 years old and still kicking. Yet to find out if my Orras will go that long. Based on what I can see and feel, though, take proper care of it and you won't have any trouble!
