For Citroen Xsara Picasso Peugeot 206 Ignition Lock Barrel Switch Starter 2 Keys

Great price, good quality, 20 mins to change

I have a 2002 Citroen Xsara Picasso 2.0HDI and had to be recovered by the RAC due to the key not being able to be turned in my ignition..... this is a common fault on the vehicles and is now the third time in 9 years it has happened, and is down to the ignition switch drawing too much current when the heater is on full and melts the terminals togethers rendering the switch unable to turn, unfortunately as I was in a multi storey car park the key had to be forced to unable turning the steering which breaks the 3 small lugs off the ignition barrel, so both parts are needed to be replaced. This does the job perfectly, is well made, super cheap, and takes about 20 mins to fit. What is not explained in the listing is your old immobiliser chips have to be transferred (cut out) of your old keys and placed in the slot inside the new key cases (which open for this purpose) but this is very easy if you are mechanically minded, the blades can also be removed and transferred into a non OEM key fob replacement case. Also, this did not fit my Picasso wiring loom perfectly, it required the removal of a small piece of plastic with a stanley blade from one of the connectors on the new part to enable it to fit the plug on the car wiring, very easily done. All in all the car is back on the road for under a score.
