Finally, some decent movie sheet music!
Playing this music on the piano has been very refreshing since the last couple of sheet music folios I have bought have been disappointing. The main reason I bought this book was because I absolutely loved the soundtrack CD.
The action music is not all that good on the piano, but the softer "love theme" (Vesper's) music sounds very good (mainly because it is performed on piano for the score). I have played "City of Lovers" over and over since I got the book. To me it is some of David Arnold's best writing. Very romantic! Some of this music would work well in a wedding. I'll have to use some of it in the next one I play for.

Not Elfman's best work
I was really looking forward to this soundtrack. After listening to it I was disappointed. It is very original, but almost too original. I would like to have heard more of a theme throughout the CD. I was also hoping Elfman would include the "Terminator Theme" with his album, but he did not.
Overall, it seemed to me like the soundtrack was just background music for the movie. I really like it when a movie score can stand on its own apart from the movie. This score does not really stand out to me.
With this said, I do feel that the score is not a complete waste of time. It has some pretty good parts, but I usually like all of Elfman's score, not just parts of it.

Very different music from Danny Elfman, ...
Very different music from Danny Elfman, but still a classic. Just like the movie, the music takes you back to the good old days of movie making. I've always enjoyed Mr. Elfman's jazz-centered music, so am excited to finally have it on vinyl. Now it really is like the good old days.
