Casting light on one of the great unknown figures of WWII
A highly readable, well researched, informative & comprehensive picture of Manstein. The book's only shortcomings are the usual pro-British bias of English authors & the obvious fact that the author does not like Manstein very much. His clumsy attempts to cast shadows on Manstein often lead to author contradictions. However, in seeking knowledge (other than Manstein's autobiography) about a major, yet generally overlooked figure of WWII, this is about the only "game in town".
