A very worthwhile investment if you have tall conifers to deal with every year.
2 of 2 found this helpful Game changing piece of kit. Used to use a petrol long reach trimmer but since I only need to trim a very large amount of conifers twice a year it was a faff. The petrol was also very heavy and cumbersome, not to mention loud and necessitated having spare petrol and two stroke oil lying around.
The Dewalt long reach trimmer is relatively light for what it is, I did a lot of research into long reach trimmers and many of them suffer with a lot of weight at the head end. This is actually very balanced and easy to handle. Don't get me wrong, you DO need a good deal of core strength to use one of these!
It is also not too noisy either, given that it's electric and not right next to you there is no need for ear defenders which is another one to chalk up against the petrol.
If I was to criticise anything I'd say that the rotating joint at the head makes it feel like if you're not careful in handling you could easily break it as there's a lot of plastic involved but so far it has stood up to everything.
As for it's power/cutting strength vs a petrol, I find that against hefty conifers it does not struggle one bit and I have yet to jam/stall it out.
I use a mixture of 4.0Ah and 1.5 Ah batteries with this and I find that I can easily get my whole garden (LOT of conifers) without needing to charge any batteries on the fly.

Okay, but don't expect miracles
These are just, ok. They really don't move a lot of air (11 cfm isn't a lot at all, a typical bathroom extractor will shift around 70 cfm). I fitted two of them to a 16ft x 10ft timber workshop in the hope of moving some of the stale air that was making it unbearable during the summer months. They have had some impact but certainly not to the desired level. I figure I would need around eight of these to achieve my goal and at the price they're asking, that's just not economical.
As far as construction and quality goes, they're about what you'd expect for something badged 'Made in Taiwan'. I dispensed with the rubber/foam 'seal' and used a ton of silicon sealant to do a better job of waterproofing.
Positives; piece of cake to fit, took me ten minutes each tops. Literally core out a hole, drop them in screw them down and turn them on.
I think in the long run I may 'upgrade' these with a decent 12v 120mm fan from the likes of Noctua or Delta and rig them to a 12v bench supply instead of the solar affair.
