A Book To Treasure.
Every so often you come across a book that captures your affection. While the Tooby, Turners and Wooton of this world display pseudo realism in their art, Alan Austin perfectly captures the character of each aircraft in totally charming sketches and drawings. They are the kind of drawings that one might make by taking a sketch pad to an airshow and in an age of surfeit of digitally-produced imagery, these drawings, which are in a league of their own, bring welcome relief.
Each illustration is accompanied by a comprehensive history and specification that is written by Anthony Dicks in such a style that draws the reader in, educates and entertains him (or her) and sends them on their way feeling completely satisfied that they have indeed had 'The Grand Tour' led by an expert guide.
The book is indeed a breath of fresh air and I have no hesitation in recommending it to you.

Another Bill Gunston Gem
1 of 1 found this helpful This well-researched first edition is a worthy addition to a timeless subject, providing the perfect introduction to most of the major iconic fighter types that made it to production. It is interesting, informative and educational with a library of superb pictures.

Excellent pen, excellent value!
I bought this pen and found that it is indeed as claimed: stylish; writing is smooth and continuous and the stylus tip gives real precision - so much better than the rubber tip, especially for continuous keyboard writing. Needless to say I'm delighted with the pen and have no hesitation in recommending it. ( PS... one extra benefit is that the smart, green colour means that I won't be losing the pen any time soon! Lol ).
