The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
This is a beautiful picture book version of Disney's film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. It has the most beautiful illustrations I've seen in a long time. In case your little one likes the movie but isn't ready for a longer story, this book hits the highlights without getting too complex. And like I said, the artwork is lovely. Whether for a fan of the movie, or simply as a new story for a child, this book would make a very nice addition!

Beautiful Pretender
This is Melanie Dickerson's version of Beauty and the Beast/ Princess and the Pea from her fairy tale retellings. Like the other two from this series, this one is a crossover of two fairy tales. Our Beauty/princess is Avelina, lady's maid/companion to Lady Dorothea. When Dorothea is invited to compete with 9 other ladies for the hand of the Margrave of Thornbeck ( our Beast/prince), she decides she'd rather run away with one of her father's knights. Desperate to keep peaceful relations with the Margrave, her father sends Avelina in her place with only two requirements: not to let the margrave choose her, and not to let her identity be known. But a greater danger is afoot in the castle, and Avelina may be the only one who can help. Oh course, Avelina and the Margrave start to fall for each other, and that complicates things as well. Can they stop a traitor and find love as well? This was very well written. It was one of my favorites of her books so far, and I've read all but 3 of her currently published fairy tales. Avelina's character is written so well, and her relationship with the margrave is a beautiful thing to read.

Luciana's third book begins with her trip to Chile to visit her family. Once there, Luci has a harder time bonding with her cousins than she expected. When they basically ditch her to go camping, Luci decides to accept an invitation from her former enemy Claire to observe real NASA scientists at work in the Atacama Desert. But when she arrives, things don't exactly go as planned. Will Luciana and Claire be able to work together when an earthquake hits? And can she repair her relationship with her cousins as well? I really enjoyed the final book in the Luciana series! It was really nice to see more about her family in this one. The scenes involving the rather large earthquake and it's effects were very exciting! Also, since this book is set in Chile, this is the only book in her series with a glossary. Definitely a must for AG fans, especially if you enjoyed Luciana's other books or if Lea or Jess were favorites. There's a lot of action survival stuff in this one!
