Here's a question: what links the SOS band, the Human League and the Spice Girls? That's right, they've all had Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis working their knobs and faders. In fact, it turns out that after Sir George Martin (with the Beatles) and Elvis' producer, they have more number ones than anyone else.
This 1991 rerelease of 1987's remixes is the European version, and sits alongside superior UK and Japanese versions - it wasn't released Stateside. I'd recommend hunting them out if you can, as they both have the ten-minute dub version of Nasty, a track which manages to be funky and robotic at the same time. The UK tracklisting also has an extended version of The Pleasure Principle.
What about the music then?
Title track Control opens proceedings. Setting the tone for the album, its an anthem to self determination. Ironic then that a few years later the production team would work with the Spice Girls.
The extended version of Nasty included next is okay, a bit formulaic compared to the grind of the Cool Summer Pt1 afterwards. This track really is the height of the album. It's cool and sassy, but still pop in a positive way. The production explores a few different ideas, so it takes you an a bit of a journey.
What Have You Done For Me Lately? is a great track, stripped bare digital funk that takes you straight back to the clubs. You know, when wearing a hat in a club was a good thing. Fact fans: Paula Abdul appeared in the video, and choreographed the dancing.
When I Think of You is included as an extended mix and as bonus beats. You don't get them so much these days except on R'n'B vinyl, and you can see the track as a precursor to a lot of hip-hop soul.
Including Control as an accapella seems a little indulgent. You wouldn't buy the record if she didn't have good voice, so not sure what to make of it. As with the bonus beats, it's a gift to samplers though, and works well in clubs.
Finally, Let's Wait Awhile brings up the rear, the slow jam at the end. Great track, beautifully sung - although a little at odds with the "wardrobe incident" at the Superbowl.
This album was the first of two remix albums that Janet Jackson released, and sold better than the the other (Janet:remixes), despite having a number of very high profile remixers on hand.
Finally, you have to check out the artwork on the cover. Weren't the 1980's great?

Comfortable and good value
I've only had them a week but they seem comfortable and reasonably light.
Happily I have not had to test the toecaps, or waded through oil but I've been on my feet for several hours at a time and they seem okay.

Wotks okay
Not much you can say about it really. The hat is warm and snug, and the light is bright.
I use it for parcel delivery. Its not as bright as a torch so if you need to see specific things it's not great. But it won't blind whoever you're facing either
