Some useful parts for modification
Just does not perform (won't reach into all gears), the brushing are super flimsy and the only saving grace is the metal rod. The pin is a terrible fit and the black cap falls off over a speed bump (so couldn't even use that. It's not cheap - it's a waste of money

Beautiful item
2 of 2 found this helpful I'm new to straight razor shaving so I don't have the experience to compare it to other products.
What I will say is this is a beautiful product - the razor really gives a sense of quality in your hands, the strop feels classy and the brush feels and works well. I "primed" the brush before use by washing it in soapy water and it's worked just fine for me... not a single hair has come out as far as I can tell.
The product comes with practically everything you need, though you will probably want to get yourself some shaving soap (most supermarkets have it) and possibly some shaving oil to prep your skin.
Although this product is supposed to be shave ready, and it does come much sharper than my kitchen knife I don't think it's nearly sharp enough for shaving - I've given it over an hour carefully trying every angle, direction speed and pressure but it just wouldn't cut any stubble. I had to give up after scraping off a ton of skin while somehow not cutting any hair. I've also followed instructional videos on honing the blade with youtube instructionals but even after 30-60 minutes of running it on the strop I haven't had any luck. As I said before, this could be inexperience so I've decided to try with the disposable types as a first step and if that doesn't help I'll know if it's me and not the razor.
Apart from the question of sharpness this is a really, really nice product.
