Best that I could find that runs on AA batteries
Instead of depending on specialized rechargeable batteries, I was looking for a camera that would run on regular AA's. The SX160 IS is the best AA powered camera that I could find. I use "Energizer Ultimate Lithium" cells and they last pretty long.
Images and video are both very high quality. To successfully take video at the highest resolution, use a reasonably fast SD card. I am using a 32GB card; I don't know if it supports any larger sizes. The only big limitation for video is that you can't connect an external microphone. The audio is recorded from the camera's internal microphones only. (The camera also has a small speaker to let you hear audio on playback.)
The pop up flash works fine. If you don't pop it up, then flash is not used -- that's simple!
There is a trick to getting sharp pictures. You must partially depress the shutter release and hold it for a second or two to make the camera auto focus. If you do, the pictures will be quite good. If you just snap the shutter, the pictures can be out of focus.
The camera has many different modes and settings, most of which you will not need. There is a way to do manual focus, but it is hard to find. You will have to read the manual, that's why they call it manual focus. :-)
This camera has no networking and no GPS. Once you have taken your pictures, you can use a mini USB cable to connect it to any computer, and folders of pictures or videos will be available as if it was a big thumb drive. Or, you can remove the SD card and just plug in to your computer.
With a certain kind of HDMI cable, you can play video directly to a TV set. The video has excellent resolution.
The self timer works fine.
There is no viewfinder, and you might have to shade the display with your hand to see it in bright sunlight.

Light, fun, and bordering on silly
This film is funny and wholesome. There is something about the way this film portrays a loving happily married couple that I really like.

Well made, and the extra length really helps
1 of 1 found this helpful I am reviewing Kobalt model 85602, the one that has a half inch drive and measures 50 to 250 ft-lbs. Its "item number" is 337334.
I have only had it for two days, but the wrench seems to be very well made. The dial for torque turns easily and locks in a very convenient way. I just tightened the 20 lug nuts on my car to 80 foot pounds, and it worked fine.
By the way, this wrench is more than two feet long. The extra length makes it easy to get the lug nuts tight enough. If you have ever tried to change a tire with the puny little wrench that comes with your car, you will understand what I am talking about. It has plenty of leverage to get the job done.
It comes with a "certificate of calibration". It says that a guy named Ben (he signed it with a rubber stamp, and his boss did too) connected the wrench to a special test fixture and made it click at various settings. When set to 50, my wrench actually applied 50.1 foot pounds. At 150, it applied 151 foot pounds, etc. It is nice to know that they tested it.
I read several online comments saying that one should never use a torque wrench to loosen anything. So I called the Kobalt company to ask them. They told me that using the wrench to loosen nuts should not be any problem and that "it measures torque in both directions". It has a little lever that flips to make the ratchet mechanism work both ways. I don't think that you have to disassemble the head to make it measure counterclockwise torque, although that is how it works on some other brands.
The wrench is marked with a serial number and the month/year of manufacture. It has no plastic parts at all. The cap on the end of the handle is rubber.
eBay had a better price than Lowes. I paid $45.00 plus $11.16 shipping in April 2019. It came in the regular retail packaging, and it includes a case.
