Will help your ability to see and solve common tactics if your rating is less than that of an A player.

All the problems look like they were taken from real games. In order to improve my game, I try and solve 30 problems everyday an see how long it will take me to do the 30 problems. In the beginning, it would take me 45 minutes to solve 30 problems, and 20% I would have to give up and look at the answer in the back. By the time I reached the end of the book, I can solve 30 problems in less than 14 minutes and only have to look up 1 out of 30 that I am unable to solve. Will definitely improve your rating, speed chess, regular chess and develop your ability to notice and analyze combinations.

Awesome. Has 239 Simple Endgame problems that you can try to solve yourself, then read the solution. 90 percent of the books on endgames are too difficult for a novice, but this book starts out easy and gradually gets harder. Only 4 of the endgames have more than 4 pawns, so this is a basic endgame book. First it has 47 checkmates that help you to learn to force checkmate. Then it has 81 king and pawn endgames that teach you on forcing a pawn to queen, the opposition, triangulation, outside pawns, the square of interception, how to go for a draw and breaking through. It then has queen or rook verses pawns, Minor pieces verses pawns. Knight +pawns verses bishop and pawns. Rook and pawn endings and Quuen and pawn vs Queen and pawn endings.
