timer switch with design issues
This switch was bought to replace a similar product called a 'Superswitch' which failed after thirty years good service.
The Greenbrook switch is virtually identical in its design and operation.
However, the major difference is the way the small red neon light works.
On my original switch the neon light only showed when the switch was in 'Auto' mode to show that
the programs for operating automatically were active, which was fine. The only other time the red light came on was after a power cut, to indicate that te switch required re-programming.
The new Greenbrook version has a different and illogical use for the red light ; i.e it stays on , flashing all the time , day and night when the switch is in normal (manual) mode , which is annoying if it is located in a bedroom.. Bizarrely, the light only goes out when in programmed 'Auto' mode. The light should only be necessary to reassure the user that the light is set to come on when the house is left empty.
I contacted Greenbrook but they could not agree with me that the red light's function is totally
illogical.
Nevertheless, I use the new switch and it works fine but I have solved the issue by putting a small piece of black PVC tape over the offending red light which is 'designed ' to be on 24/7.

A great solution for preventing inkjet prints smudging.
I needed to ensure that some labels I'd printed on photo -paper for home-made wine bottles would not run or smudge if handled or got damp. I discovered this Giant product and gave it a try, even though it seemed a little expensive.
I was very pleased with the resutls. The labels are now very stable and do not smudge even if rubbed.
I found that it was best to spray a very light film, keeping the nozzle about 18 inches from the subject. I discovered that it takes quite a few minutes to dry (it is sticky at first ) but when dry, the finish is very good.
