Marantz CDR510 CD Recorder
06 Jan, 2016
Marantz CD510
This is an upgraded CD500. This one works and has a better CD recorder (left side) that does not break after 5 minutes of use like the CD-500 did. The unit off loads the task of CD duplicating and recording and has the added major plus of SPDIF outputs so that you can use a "high end" DAC converter to get the best possible CD playback quality albeit at 44.1 16 bit. Also another plus is that this unit defies copy code protection. Also, professional features like balanced analog input and digital (SPDIF/ optical) inputs. My entire usage of this unit is to make and playback CD's WITHOUT tying up a computer for this task and not have to go through a compromised inferior quality "sound card" on a crappy computer. The real downside is that these units are no longer available which is slowly and indirectly supporting the Apple and others new paradigm of not allowing users to "own" the music they pay for. Watch out friends, you say CD's are dead ? and it's cool to directly stream MP3's from a subscription server ? Get ready to pay more. Cheers, Alan
