    Shakespeare get a face lift!
I adore the comic talents of both Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin and seeing them in this vehicle is a hoot! What really surprised me was watching this in the midst of directing a production of Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors. Wow! Everything old is new again! The plot construction is the same, the characters somewhat reinvented but the shenanigans are priceless. Of course being an '80's fluffy comedy, Big Business does reflect the issues of its times - the corporate mergers and takeovers, the destruction of small town American business and community, but it's still a fun piece. . . it's impossible to keep a straight face watching Bette milk a cow while yodeling at a country fair. Pure camp. Lily Tomlin offers a great spin off of her Judith Beasley character in the guise of her countrified Dromio. Great performances as well with Fred Ward and Edward Hermann. If you're looking for great fluff or if you're into Shakespeare's comedies - check it out. You'll laugh till you cry.

Oh - Sweet Misery of Life, At last I found You!!!!!
It took me many years to track down this unique duo - but well worth the effort! Granted every performer must suffer for their art - but Jonathan & Darlene take it to a whole new level. Painful, jarring and deliciously funny to hear Darlene reach and stretch for those illusive notes as Jonathan tries to maintain tempo and adjust his chord changes. This album is a MUST for anyone who loves classic jazz, standards and cabaret performances. . . . in the worst way, of course. For a sampler of their style - I highly recommend jumping to YouTube and watch the opening credit sequence of John Landis' 'Kentucky Fried Movie' as Darlene warbles 'The Carioca' . You'll recognize her voice immediately! I've yet to order Vol. 2, but the tracks on Vol. 1 are indeed memorable. My faves are:"I Love Paris, I Am Woman, Stayin' Alive, Take the 'A' Train, Alabamy Bound, Be My Little Baby BumbleBee, - hell, pretty much the whole album! Sneak on one of their tracks during your next dinner party or perhaps a romantic night with a roaring fire over a bottle of wine. . . . it's guaranteed to break the ice and add some good chuckles. Enjoy!

    The best!
Full length features of some of Agatha Christie's best cases involving Hercule Poirot. If you love the TV series - I strongly urge you to treat yourself to this DVD collection. Exquisite production values and impeccable performances featuring David Suchet.
