Unpredictable courtroom dramas
Interesting court cases, good characters and you get to see some well known actors before they were well known. Sam Kelly for example as a cockney Jack the lad small time crook. The verdicts are not predictable and are sometimes surprising. Very entertaining, but not for lovers of fast action thrillers.

Period murder mysteries with humour and good plots
Very good plots, Father Brown solves the cases despite the best efforts of the police to keep him off the case. Murders yes but no gory details or violence.Plenty of humour to lighten tension. Good family viewing.

Real juries give verdicts on fictitious cases
I like the fact that the results of the court cases are not decided at the start of the cases. Therefore there are two endings recorded depending on the results of the jury's findings. Each jury is made up of members of the public as in real life, so this adds to the authenticity of the cases. This also gives an insight into court procedure, most enjoyable.
