Excellent reliable alternative to expensive Dual Mass Flywheel
Excellent reliable alternative to fitting the unreliable dual mass flywheel (DMF). Fitted this and have had no issues with the Single Mass Flywheel (SMF) modification. Would highly recommend as this kit will save you from having to do the job again as it gets rid of the dual mass flywheel. No vibration issues evident going to single mass flywheel - after all they were used for @ 100 years without reliability issues. Whats not to like. TIP if you are going to change to a single mass flywheel from a dual mass compare the new SMF kit dimensions of the pressure plate and flywheel placed together (without clutch plate between) with the original removed Dual mass flywheel and pressure plate placed together on a flat surface. the dimensions should be within a couple of mm of each other allowing for wear and tear on the pressure plate fingers. Place the flywheel with the crankshaft mating face on the flat surface and take measurement from flat surface to top of fingers on pressure plate. Do this before fitting the kit to ensure it will work. When i measured mine it was within 1.5mm. This should ensure that the clutch travel is correct when you install it. You may consider replacing the concentric slave cylinder (not supplied) if yours is leaking as it is worth doing as it is easy to change whilst the gearbox is off.
