Have a Pro Inspect Your Door Before Installing
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a very fickle unit, and requires a perfectly balanced door, since the opening force is on one side, and not the middle. It also takes a LOT of hours to install. My 23 year old cable was apparently stretched, and when I went through the open and closed positions programming, on the down test, the cable came off the spool, and the door derailed. Cost me a missed day of work, and a $1200 repair. The design is elegant, makes a lot of sense, and eliminates the need for an overhead rail (and if a chain or screw, dripping grease on your car). They just somehow need to build-in more forgiving mechanisms.

OK, but design flaws
Haven't used it yet, but same design flaw as a Rock N Roller hand truck that I own: the toe plate doesn't lock in place when used as a hand truck (actually, it does sort of---it's held down by spring friction plates; a gentle push when the unit is empty will send it toppling over into your car). Also, the fold handle folds onto the load side, not the backside. This means your upright load rests ackwardly on the short length of the fold over handle, instead of the full length of the frame. The frame does extend as advertised, but it's doubtful the extended aluminum frame can handle the advertised 400 lb capacity. Still, it's the best collapsible convertible hand truck that I could find from many hours of research. For the toe plate, for an updated design, I recommend those spring loaded pin thingies
