If you like the offbeat in humor this is for you!!

While clearly dramatizing Fillmore's life it does actually give a good history lesson on 1800's America if you look between the lines. But mainly if you have a warped sense of humor then read this book!! I nearly lost my continence from laughing so hard a couple of times!! Pendle should get points for creativity for such an unpromising subject such as Fillmore!

Ike's Boy Done Good!!:)

John Eisenhower takes a general now little remembered by the people and shows what a valuable contribution he made to our early republic even with his all too human flaws and foibles. Also I think Eisenhower rescues from the dust heap of history Scott's genuine skills as an Army officer. It makes you wonder if he hadn't been so old and physically feeble at the beginning of the Civil War, how different a war it would have been as prosecuted by a younger Scott. Even in his condition he laid the general framework for a gradual blockade and slow strangulation of the South's capabilities with his "Anaconda Plan". You owe it to yourself to learn about Winfield Scott.
