Mice taking bait readily, so hoping it works quickly

Problem ?
Very pleased with power of batteries but they keep falling off drill. Is this a fault with batteries or age of drill? My old batteries don't fall off. Any advice please

Enthusiasts little helper
This is the second one I have owned. The first one gave me almost 15 years of constant usage both for germinating seeds and for rooting cuttings.
The first one had a more user friendly control where you could see the current temperature whereas the second just indicates if the heating element has switched on again. The clear plastic dome is not as robust as the first one but nevertheless appears to be acceptable.
I look forward to many more years of service from this one ,though at 83 it may just outlast me
