A heavyweight (in all senses) survey.
An exhaustive (and sometimes exhausting) encyclopaedia of all aspects of Dylan's life and work, including his many influences. There are the inevitable omissions, such as Martin Carthy and other musicians who were important in Dylan's development, but most fans would be aware of those already. There is the occasional hilarious, but honest, opinion, especially where Bono is concerned. Overall, an excellent book for dipping into, and an ideal companion to the author's earlier works on Dylan's sources for his songs. (See 'Song And Dance Man').

The creator of Dan Dare and his shoddy treatment by lesser beings.
This beautifully produced book is a worthy tribute to one of Britain's best artists. Frank Hampson inspired many of today's comic artists and the legacy of his work is enormous, not only because he created Dan Dare, but for his work in several other fields, including some of the books in the Ladybird series. He was painstakingly accurate in his depiction of characters and their settings and this book contains many full-colour examples of his best work for "Eagle" which was originally published by the Hulton Press. Sadly, subsequent publishers hijacked the copyright to Dan Dare and Hampson was cast aside, unable to recreate his iconic character for fear of being prosecuted by those who owned and profited from the 'pilot of the future'. The full, exciting, but ultimately sad story of the rise of "Eagle" and the betrayal of one of its creators is fully documented here.

A classic for Norwich drinkers.
This is the definitive book on pubs in the City of Norwich and it has not been superseded since it was published in 1975. It contains excellent photographs of many pubs with informative accompanying text giving details of their history. An updated edition would be welcome but it would need someone with the incisive touch of Dr Riddington Young to make it as fascinating as the first edition.
