Does work but has a fault that can be worked around.
This is quite an old product and this one like most of its era is second user equipment. Generally this is quite a good meter from a reputable make and it does the job. Over the years this is the third one of these that I have owned. The first I bought from new many years ago and the second I still have and still works well, Unfortunately this third one is not the best of its kind. Superficially it appeared to be in good condition, but on power-up a checksum error appeared. Nevertheless it does work normally when this is cleared. In order to try to cure the fault I removed the stick-on front panel to gain access to the internals. Inside I found that the backup battery had corroded, taking with it some of the printed board contacts. I replaced the battery and contacts, but the checksum error still persists. It's not really a big deal but would like to cure it if possible. On this basis I have to give it a minus for quality.

Very good watchable film for all ages.
We had a video tape of this film many years ago - now long gone. We wanted to get another copy in DVD format. This version will work on Region 2 TV systems (i.e. UK TV, PAL) and is just what we wanted. It's a very entertaining film, quite exciting in parts and the special effects are good especially for its era. It was originally a Cinerama film in very wide screen format, so you will have to fiddle with you picture sizes to get the best watching experience.

Good value for money.
Really good value for money. Tip heats up quickly with a digital readout of the temperature which is really useful. Having a higher power element, it will handle soldering on joints where higher thermal capacity is needed. There is also a pack of 10 spare tips supplied of various sizes, a tip cleaning sponge, a wire mesh tip cleaning pad and even a spare element. Let's hope it's not needed!
