Let's you walk in someone else's shoes as you never had
1 of 1 found this helpful This amazing book reads like a dream. Unless you grew up as a black woman in the South in the 1960s, you have no idea what their world was like. I thought I knew about the South, having traveled there. But until I read this book, I really had no idea of what this world was like for blacks and whites whose lives are so intricately intertwined. You will gain a compltely new perspective and understanding of a culture that existed not so long ago. It will inform you and enchant you in ways you never dreamed a novel could.

Reading about what this woman overcame made me feel I could do anything!
A great read even for non-readers!
This novel is a fictionalized account of her grandmother's life. Lily was born in 1901 in west Texas and broke horses on her family's ranch, rode a horse 500 miles at age 15 to teach school in a rural one-room schoolhouse, and has more adventures and obstacles to overcome that anyone I've ever known. Most chapters are 2 pages, so you fly through this book. Once you start you can't put it down. Jeannette Walls is quite the storyteller. I'm going to read her account of her mother's life next in her novel "The Glass Castle." This book will make you feel like you can overcome anything!

Only option for inoperable malignant tumors.
1 of 1 found this helpful Our 11 YO Airedale Terrier was diagnosed with mangeosarcoma in December, 2016. Her tumor is in her liver and inoperable. The vet recommended this Chinese herb and another called I-Yunnity. I give her these twice each day. It is now March, 2017, and she is still doing well. The vet also prescribed pain meds, which I also give her twice per day. Tramadol.
