A must for B-Boys fans
This anthology is a great way to dip into the Beastie Boys’ back catalogue and get a flavour of their first few albums. The tracks are mixed up rather than in any kind of date order, so it moves back and forth between their earlier ‘NY hard-core’ style and Intergalactic, their latest album at the time, and all points in between including Licensed to Ill, Paul's Boutique and Ill Communication. The most enlightening thing for me is the full-colour booklet that comes with the anthology – rather than lyrics, it goes into details about each track and how it came about, including what the band were doing at the time and what their influences were. If you’re a B-Boys fan, you need to get this – you will feel much closer to the band and their tracks after listening and reading, and the mini reproductions of album and single covers are really nice. Contains 2 CDs, colour booklet and colour sleeve art fold-out.
