A very specific tool, but it makes the job of adjusting the washer jets very easy, so well worth buying. Many thanks.

An interesting look at how my home town has developed in the last 120 years.

Problem solved (so far).
I have an old Astra and in the past 3 or 4 years have had a lot of trouble with the ERG valves on it. The problem starts with a slight hesitation while accelerating (momentary surges and lapses in the power). As the problem progresses this symptom multiplies until the car cuts out in traffic and is virtually un-driveable. There is no engine fault code.
I have in the past fitted a few replacement EGR valves, but these inevitably fail again in a year or so. Following a bit of internet research, I also made a blanking plate for the EGR that still allowed the valve to open, but which blanked the inlet port. This worked for about 1200 miles but then, while the car still drove well, the engine management light came on.
After fitting this simulator, the car once more drives well. It is easy enough to install, although slightly longer wires would allow a better mounting location to be chosen. Initially I used double sided sticky pads to mount it to a cleaned up point on the bulkhead, but after a few days it came loose. It is now cable tied to one of the engine hoses. We have covered 500 miles or so since fitting it and all is well. I have seen good reviews on other sites too on cars that have run these simulators for much longer periods. Hopefully that is the end of my EGR blues.
