It was certainly worth the effort for me

Overhauling the Vanos on my E46 325i was challenging, for example when removing the rocker cover, the gasket was so old and brittle that some of it broke into pieces and dopped onto and around the exhaust cam which was a bit of a headache and you need to take care at every stage of the procedure. The video insruction is very good and there is additional information in the written instructions both are on the X8R website. Most of the research i did before undertaking this job suggested that left hand threaded bolts that secure the Vanos to the camshafts should not be reused and perhaps 2 of these bolts would be a useful addition to the kits. The results, I have to say, were instantly noticeable. So much more eagerness at lower revs. It's like driving a different car. Highly recommended
