Achieving Your Assessment and Quality Assurance Units (TAQA) 9781446274453
    21 May, 2017
If working towards Assessment, Internal or External Quality Assurance qualifications this is for you!
This updated 2nd edition contains everything necessary for students to pass a range of qualifications, as it has units 1-3 for Assessment, 4, 5 & 8 for Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and 6,7 & 8 for External Quality Assurance (EQA); for those working towards the Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance units (TAQA). The preface explains that it now incorporates developments in the Further Education and Skills Sector and includes chapters on the external quality assurance role. I've not had this book for long time. I am currently using it to study the Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, and so far find it methodical and easy to read. It also notes that some of the assessment and quality assurance units for this course can be used towards achieving the Award, Certificate and Diploma in Education and Training qualification. The units are as follows: 1) Understanding the principles and practice of assessment 2) Assess vocational competence in the work environment 3) Assess vocational skills knowledge and understanding 4) Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment 5) Internally assure the quality of assessment 6) Understanding the principles and practices of externally assuring the quality of assessment 7) Externally assure the quality of assessment 8) Plan, allocate and monitor work in own area of responsibility The introduction is suitably set out and includes how to use the book; TAQA units and qualifications; How to achieve the units; the Quality and Credit Framework (QCF); Abbreviations and acronyms. At the end of each chapter there is a cross referencing grid to show how content contributes towards the TAQA units as well as the National Occupational Standards for Learning and Development. The book measures 24.5 cm (l) x 17 cm (w) x 1.5 cm (d). A nice size for a text book you may need to carry. It is fully black and white with emboldened type in grey boxes for examples and activities. The font size may seem a little small for some.
