CUTE, ADORABLE, AMAZING SOUND
1 of 1 found this helpful Well now... Can you say "cute, adorable, and great sound" in the same sentence? It's a small little thing with lungs of steel! The quality of the sound is superb, and the stations that come in strong are fantastic! Many choices on the AM, fun to use, and truly impressive for under $15. I do not use earbuds, so cannot speak to that, but inside the house, it shows muscle and clarity. Love it!

LOVE THIS RADIO!
3 of 3 found this helpful Just received this radio and fell in love with it! The sound is extraordinary! The clarity of the stations that come in easily is superb. Dare I say, it sounds better than my Super Radio III? For Dx-ing - the tone (bandwidth) can be enhanced with the push of a button which runs from 1 to 6, including half steps, and goes from base to treble. It does not fine-tune, but it can eliminate a lot of noise. REALLY LOVE THIS RADIO!
Recently I also bought a Sony ICF 38, and without a doubt, the Sangean is much superior in sound, ease of use, etc. Surely, one could find faults, or suggestions for improvement, but for what it is, and for my purposes (mainly talk radio), this little treasure works just fine! A definite keeper! It will replace my bedside radio, for sure.

IF ONLY...
This is a little radio I really wanted to love, given some of the reviews and if only for one thing, I'd call it a good radio, but here's the flaw: all good, until you turn up the volume, and then it starts to buzz. For me, a real let-down. Very distracting. I do not blast the radio, I mean, just very loud in a room, usually on a talk station. If it weren't for this short-coming, I'd say it's a good radio for an inexpensive FM/AM radio with minimum features. My price was under $30, and for that price, and it being a Sony, I do expect superb sound (like it's little brother the P-26, which cost under $15). Features is another issue, but fortunately, we all can adapt - appreciate the good. I have wondered whether the sound issue is only on this unit (dud) or a general ICF 38 issue. Would love to hear impressions from other users/owners. Thanks.
