High Image Quality
1 of 1 found this helpful Unless you REALLY need the extra light of the 1.4, the 50mm 1.8 is as sharp as it gets. Light and plenty fast AF. Doesn't work with some newer low end digitals from Nikon, (D3xxx, D5xxx, etc.), but even the Chinese made ones work great on both DX and Full Frame/35mm cameras. The ones made in Japan are suppose to be better,....but I doubt it. (my version is marked 'JAPAN'...this one, for my son, is marked 'CHINA') The only advantage of f/1.4 version is build. (and 2/3 stop)

Both Pros and Cons
Pros: Looks great, soft on eye socket, professional look to non-professional camera, easy on/off.
Cons: Can't open film door with eye piece attached.
