Tasteful and mature offering from a master of his craft.
A very cleanly produced album with a predictable hint of the elder-statesman muso vibe. Polly Samson's lyrical input makes the album a more reflective, less ascerbic experience than any of the post-Dark Side Floyd Canon, with or without Waters. The opportunity for a spot of genre-hopping seems to suit Gilmour and his instantly recognisable and often breathtaking guitar embelishments, beautifully compliment the different strains of AOR on offer here. His playing is typically tight and tasteful, his legendary touch emphasised by the uncluttered mix and RTL's exemplary cast of supporting players. For old-school Floydians though, it is only really on In Any Tongue that DG's soloing really take off and soars into sky-scraping heights.
