A classic
With a great script by the original author, and a director who out together a very happy cast, it's very well paced and a great light comedy. Screenwriting students can take notes of exposition which is well done. I recommend this highly.

Spend your coin upon it now & there shall be cause for naught but joy!
I had purchased this recently after having seen it but once, some years ago. Michael Wood's affection for history is always a joy to witness and his investigation into the forces that formed Shakespeare carry such strong academic observations, psychological insights with all the pleasure of the village gossip. If you want a decent amount of screen time devoted to a satisfying catalogue of social forces and personal circumstances of the Bard, then this a the very thing for such hunger. I found great pleasure in watching and seeing various plays mentioned in relation to the circumstances surrounding their authorship. What is given is a measure of the man and by such is an affectionate thorough examination.

This work harks back to the golden age of essays, and each one is rich with content, as essays should be. A large work too from an author who increases his body of fine and robust work.
