Brilliant record
I’ve read a couple of reviews of Cardinology which raised concerns regarding the quality of the pressing. However, I can confirm that my copy is well mastered, with little to no surface noise, and sounds absolutely great. In terms of the music, while not quite up there with JCN and Cold Roses, I do think this (and anything with the Cardinals) represents Adams’ best work.
Highly recommended.

Incredible Sound
Mingus Ah Um is a classic jazz record and so I’ll say very little about the music itself as it can be readily streamed across platforms.
The record itself just sounds incredible. This is, without question, the best sounding record that I’ve ever heard. The separation between instruments, the definition, and the tone is incredibly life like. Listening to it through my mid-range system (Rega P3, Elex-R, and Dynaudio Emit M30) is such a fantastic experience.
The record itself is expensive, however, the packaging is very high quality, and the record is immaculately pressed on Supervinyl, centred, and flat. And, typically, this series tends to appreciate in value over time.
In summary, this is very expensive, but an immaculately packaged and incredible sounding record.

Excellent Pressing
29 is Ryan Adams at his best. The sound is somewhere between the alt-country vibe of Cold Roses, and the more accessible material found on, say, Easy Tiger. The quality of the songwriting is exceptional, with Carolina Rain telling the story of twisted love gone badly wrong, the achingly beautiful Blue Sky Blues, and the epic brilliance of Strawberry Wine (which might just be the weirdest and greatest things Adams has ever produced.
The vinyl itself is good and definitely worth having. A couple of tracks do have something which sounds a little like surface noise, but I can’t be sure whether this is an issue from the original recording/mastering. Whatever, it is barely noticeable and does not effect the listening experience.
Otherwise, the sound is detailed, expansive, and warm.
The sleeve itself is nothing special, although it does contain a lyric sheet as an insert, which is nice to have.
For fans of Adams, alt-country, and good songwriting in general, 29 is a must have. In particular, the vinyl entry is definitely worth having.
