BelOMO 10x with LOGO LANYARD. Triplet Loupe Magnifier 21mm (.85")

High quality from an unexpected source.

Nice clear 10x triplet from Belorus. Where the USSR used to make a lot of its military optics. Bigger field of view than my old B&L hastings triplet which I lost. Make sure to buy the slightly more expensive coated optics version though. It is a matter of a few bucks. The strap is nice and sturdy and the all metal screwed together construction allows adjustment of the tension on the lens. No more flopping open. I'm a geologist and rock-hound and I like it! And not made in China!

Shinola Detroit Large Harbor Blue Notebook - Made in the USA (S0710010921)

A great US-made alternative to Molskine notebooks and journals

Moleskine notebooks have been my go-to but I have been looking for a USA made alternative. And the Shinola looks like it will be a keeper. The Shinola notebook is about an inch shorter, a half-inch narrower and slight thicker. Line spacing is similar but there no top or bottom margins. Both have a bookmark ribbon, a back-cover pocket and an elastic to keep the notebook closed during carry. The paper in the Shinola feels slightly smoother using my Fischer Space Pen then the Moleskine paper does, but I had to pay attention to be aware of it. My only "complaint", and it is minor, is that they only have one choice of color in the soft-cover, lined notebooks. The denim textured, light blue is nice enough, but I would prefer a black. Quite happy with my purchase.
