Perfect
As my car is parked under a tree that the local bird population use as a WC some sort of cover for the hood was a must and this one is perfect. Solid construction and quick and easy to fit. Sections of the cover are trapped in boot and door frames so it should survive in gale force winds. It is so wuick to fit I use it as a frost protector. It's as quick to fit as my screen cover, more secure and covers all the glass. No more scrapping off ice in the mornings.

A Good as it Gets
On my last roadster i had a rack that adjusted to different cars. It worked OK and was well made but all the screws and satraps resulted in an ugly product that I only fitted when I absolutely needed it. When I bought my MX5 the rack looked really poor on my niv=ce new car so I looked for other options and there were not many.
Mazda make a rack for the car but the designer must have had a really off day as it is super expensive carbon fibre and so i impractical and ugly that even my Mazda dealer said don't touch it. Then I found this rack.
Unlike others it is specifically designed for the Mark 4 so does not need a range of screws and holes for adjustment. once fitted all that is seen on the outside is a very smart rack. As everything else on my ca is off white and black this black rack actually looks quite good and I have no problem leaving it in place. Another plus compared with the multi adjustable rack is that this one has a built in high level drake light which is a real plus as any rack will obscure the car's fitted light.
Now to fitting. The rack comes with a standard Mazda wiring loom which there own rack uses to feed the light on their brake light. Fitting this is really straightforward a the car and look are designed to work together. I think it took all of five minutes to screw the new socket in position inside the boot lid, ease back the boot liner to find the brake light cable, unplug it and plug the new loom in and push the lining back in place. the new socket comes with a small plug which when inserted sends the power back to the car bark light so that still works OK when the rack is removed.
Installing the rack consists of sticking four supplied clear plastic self adhesive squares on the boot where the rack touches. A cad template is supplied which makes them easy to position. These protect the paint and do show a little when the rack is removed. I may resort to what did with my last car and that is just stick duct tape squares when I use a rack and remove them when I take the rack off. Fitting the rack itself is just a case of positioning the rack legs on the squares and tightening four hex bolts which are accessed rom inside the legs. This is the only area where there was a small problem. The supplied hex key was almost impossible to turn without risking damage to the boot lid. i tried covering it with rag but still not perfect so I binned the key and used a hex key socket on a 3/8 drive extension bar. Worked perfectly but needed care to not put on more torque that I would have done with the small key. Only other small point was no English instructions. Not really needed but I always worry that they may included some warning that I would not know about.
Final job was to put the four little black plugs in the socket holes, except I only seemed to have three.
Overall this is about as good as it gets it you need a rack for a Mark 4 MX 5. Looks smart, reasonable capacity and very ell made. Delivery was 48 hours and zero assembly required.
