Scrabble word goldmine.
A gem of a book, that holds answers to tricky racks we encounter, from words ending in unlikely vowels, to word of only vowels, or words of all consonants. How often do we face a tight board and hold awkward letters we cannot play? With Allan's help we learn words with the Power Tiles: JQXZ, hooks: front and back, to build off words to advantage, and 6-letter stems, based on probable draw-ins, that form the 50+ point bonus words.
Allan, winner of prestigious national Championship games, and player in 8 world championships, pours his expertise, from over 35 years of serious Scrabble, into this amazing book. Unlike conventional word lists, the book cleverly divides into sets, subsets, and even sub-sub-sets of words, signposted with delightful gems pointing out features of interest and usefulness, like exchanging 2 Us for Vs in EUOUAE.
The book suits beginner and lower-rated player, and the seasoned and expert player alike. The sequence follows logical progression: vowel-heavy sets commence with the A-A-A theme: ABACA, to the -U-U: PUKU, in manageable lots; spelling variants; allowable American variants of English words. My favourite chapter: WORD FAMILIES, takes likely root words, around which high-yield words are placed in an intelligent mind-map of themed words with associations patterns for ease of recall.
I have had my copy of Scrabble Trainer for a year, and found it useful for consecutive study and for dipping into random chapter sub-sets. I have learned so much already and heartily recommend it to you for that winning edge.
