Great for beginners!
1 of 1 found this helpful Overall the Nighthawk Pro 280 is a quality product for the money from EMAX and a great introductory quadcopter for those getting into the FPV hobby. Due to its size and weight it's never going to be as fast and agile as the smaller racing quads (and most are smaller!), but its stable & manageable flight characteristics make it an ideal starting point. Definitely a beginners quad. More experienced pilots will likely find it lacking.
Pros:
High quality emax motors. Not the most powerful in the world (2203) but they are very smooth & more than adequate for a beginner when running 6'' props. (They struggle a bit with smaller props.)
Frame: Very strong and sturdy, as are the screws & standoffs. Definitely one of this quads best features; you can have some serious crashes and the frame just takes it!
FPV Camera: Produces a surprisingly good quality image.
Spares: Lots of readily available, fairly cheap spare parts.
All-in-one Flight Control Board: Means no soldering needed to replace electronics!
Cons:
FPV Transmitter is easily damaged in crashes due to where it's placed on the frame. Be prepared to replace it fairly often if you crash a lot. (Around £15 a pop.)
Flight Controller and ESCs are old now. The FC is running the most basic F1 chip on a Naze32-type flight controller; which is not very powerful and outdated now. As are the Blheli ESCs, which are quite slow and not very smooth. All this means fine tuning the quad is limited by the capabilities of its electronics. You can get it to fly fairly well, but it will never be as locked-in as more modern quads running F3 chips and Blheli_S ESCs.
Weight: It's a bit on the heavy side! You certainly start to feel this once you get into acro flight more. On low throttle settings the quad quickly starts to plummet out of the sky and so the amount of hang-time you get to perform manoeuvres is very limited closer to the ground. This means it's not the best for acrobatic flight. And that extra weight and size also means it's not going to set the world on fire in an FPV racing scenario either!
Issues Running Betaflight: It'll run Baseflight (ancient!) or Cleanflight no problems - but it doesn't seem to like Betaflight at all. (Probably due to the age & lower processing power of the electronics.)
All-in-one Flight Control Board: Means if you blow an ESC you have to replace the entire board, not just the blown ESC!
Overall I'd give it an 8/10 - it does the job it's designed for at a decent price & uses (generally) high quality components. As long as you are aware of its limitations it won't disappoint.

Couldn’t get these to work with my Epiphone Les Paul...
I bought these pickups to try them out on my 2019 Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Pro. Unfortunately I could not get these pickups to work properly with that guitar. The Plus Top Pro has Epiphone’s ‘Quick Connect’ System for the humbuckers and I could not wire these pickups up to that system, even transplanting the Epiphone quick connectors. The pickups sounded very tinny and cheap and there was loads of feedback, but this may be due to the wiring being incorrect rather than the pickups themselves, I don’t know... A solution would be to remove the Epiphone Quick Connect system entirely and just wire the pickups up in the traditional way. Unfortunately this was far more effort than I was willing to take for the cost of the pickups. Also worth noting is the pickup rings were too small for my guitar, so I had to swap the supplied pickup rings to the default Epiphone ones - no problem, but worth being aware of...

Supplied wall plugs not fit for purpose!
These are great value wall hangers for your guitar. The bracket is tough and made of thick plastic with reinforcement where the arms attach to ensure it can cope with the weight. The soft padded arms hold the guitar securely without marking the neck.
I’ve hung my SG and Les Paul (heavy!) off these for long periods with no trouble. HOWEVER they do loose a star for the white plastic wall plugs that came in the kit with my brackets, as these are not fit for purpose. Once located in the wall, I was able to pull them out again with just my fingers! I dread to think what would have happened if I’d hung my guitar on them!
So I highly recommend you use your own high-quality wall plugs rather than the ones they supply with this kit. The supplied screws are fine though.
