Mustek A3 1200 Pro Document Scanner

Mustek A3 Pro Document Scanner is right for the job!

I installed this scanner on a Windows XP home computer using the included CD. Everything went smoothly. It is supposed to work on Windows 7 too, but there may be more difficulty with installation (from what I have read anyway.) Once installed, the scanner works beautifully for the oversized documents etc. One of the BEST features of this scanner (for me anyway) is the included ABBY Fine Reader, which is an OCR conversion program. (Again this may be easier to use on a Windows XP system.) I am scanning 11 X 15 DOUBLE COLUMN text pages, and I have the settings set for 100% size. This creates a 60MB scan! However, my Windows XP with 2 GB of RAM and a good size Page File, can handle it no problem. The ABBY software then automatically 'reads' the scan and converts it to actual text. (Doing 2 columns is something Adobe Acrobat can't do!) Then it has a "save wizard" which will automatically send it to MS Word. It is VERY accurate! It's true the scanner is cheaply built, and you have to handle it carefully. But so far I am very happy with it.

Great retro DVD player

I had one exactly like this which finally bit the dust. I shouldn't have left the power always on I think. So this one is replacing that one. It is connected to an old 27" console TV which only has the red, white and yellow RCA connectors (no HDMI which all the modern DVD players need) So I'm back in business. Yay!
