Great storytelling in Swinging Sixties style
I bought this purely for nostalgic reasons. I had a copy of this in the 1960s when I was so much younger. So the five stars are for it completely fulfilling its nostalgic purpose. However, while I'd recommend it for its simple storytelling in manageable chunks and being crammed with lively artwork, we've definitely moved on from Jesus being represented as a blue-eyed, blond bombshell.

Outstanding
A superbly-researched academic piece of work which, given the nature of the material once part of a 'secret', hidden' or 'forbidden' world, makes it a triumph. On first impression, a quick flick through the visual resources by anyone hoping for a shallow, salacious thrill might feel rewarded in that way. but the enduring effect, because of the incisive, rigorous referencing through social history, changing laws and the public/private realm, makes this a brave, important and stand-out book.

Vintage product, unused and all there in original packaging. Looking forward to reliving a childhood memory by building this model again, a kit I remember having back in the 1970s.
