Alternative to more expensive choices.
1 of 1 found this helpful If you have a spare £800-£1000 to spend I would not hesitate to buy a Canon made lens but if like me you are restricted by your budget try out the Sigma it does the business.
It is heavy to carry but I think anyone serious enough to want this lens would know that before they buy anyway - and isn't that a re-assuring point anyway.
I purchased a monopod to use at the Zoo and out on my travels to keep pictures sharp and also 'stop down' or else you will get soft images at the far end of the zoom length. There does seem to be faint Vignetting so another reason to manually control the exposure.
Overall a good lens and good price and provided you take into account short-comings a good buy I think.

G10 Review and comparison with Digital SLR
I love the size (fits in your pocket),quality of output and RAW shooting option,my flash from my EOS system is compatible.
I hate slow shooting in RAW,camera needs loads of power and you need a backup battery I suspect that it is easy to turn on power by accident and even though it switches back to standby I suspect that battery is drained in this way.
