Let THIS one in!!!
1 of 1 found this helpful Eerily beautiful and gory and chilling enough to warrant its Horror Movie status, 'Let The Right One In' satisfies on the levels you'd expect of a vampire movie. But this excellent film from director Tomas Alfredson pleases the viewer on more levels than those listed. Set sometime in the eighties the story opens with twelve year old Oskar acting out revenge fantasies on the trunk of a tree (substituting for the bullies from school) with his penknife. Soon there's a new kid on the block in the shape of the mysterious Eli. Eli has just moved in next door with her 'guardian' and so begins frequent meetings by the climbing frame in the park and their friendship blossoms. But a series of gruesome discoveries lead the clients of the local bar to start to suspect the new arrivals. Oskar and Eli's friendship is soon tested and what transpires is thrilling, moving and thought provoking. A film that you'll be thinking about long after the credits roll. Catch it now in its original Swedish with subtitles before the Hollywood remake that will no doubt ruin it.

No cover
It doesn’t come with a little plastic cover to protect from accidental damage, which is how I broke the original one in the first place

A Reel Cock And Bull Story
What was that all about? This film started nowhere meandered about a bit then ended up, god only knows where! Its a film about making a film but you get the feeling it didn't start out that way. It feels a though they started making the film of the story of Tristram Shandy but got bored half way through. So what you're left with is a somewhat indulgent mess. Coogan and Brydon are both very good in it and so are the many of the cameoes. But you ultimately just want it to finish or have a point which ever comes soonest. It does eventually finish but doesn't have a point. If you're expecting something like the excellent TV show 'The Trip' youill be sadly disapointed. Expect to see it back on ebay in the very near future.
