Expensive but exquisite
Having had several tripods over my many years of photography, my move to an Olympus em-1 and pro lenses made me look for a suitable tripod to match. I settled on the Gitzo traveler, pressed the buy button and waited with some trepidation for it to arrive. I needn’t have worried, the tripod is all that I was hoping for. The build quality is superb. It’s beautiful to look at. It is a work of art. More importantly, it’s very stable, with no flex even at full height. As it will mainly be used for low level macro work, I have removed the centre column and replaced it with the short column. At full height and camera mounted it comes up to not quite eye level. A slight bend to look through the viewfinder is no problem. I am 5’11. It is fast to erect and collapse and the included quick release ball head is lovely and smooth. Yes it very expensive, but I’m unlikely to ever need another tripod. Well ...... maybe a bigger tripod for hide use and my spotting scope. It will definitely be a Gitzo.
