Convenience
A convenient item that saves electricity when you have kids who don't always remember to shut off the lights after they leave the room and a handy way to turn on the light when your hands are full. This particular switch is simple to install since most light switches are just interrupted by splicing into one of the wires that give the power to the light , other auto light switches must be connected with a neutral wire that feeds electricity at the wall switch itself,making it more complicated to hook up. This one is simple, black to black, red to the other, usually a white wire. I don't even shut the breaker, but its better if you do, especially if your wall boxes are metal instead of plastic. If the two wires touch accidentally, all that happens is the light comes on. If you hold on to both wires you will feel the current pulsating
