Dinnerladies - The Complete Series (DVD, 2010, 3-Disc Set)

I'll have second helpings of this well into the future!

This series, regrettably all too short, is further confirmation of what a truly original and unique talent Victoria Wood was. Her observations about people which she injected into her oh-so-memorable characters were so pin sharp they live long in the memory. We missed the series when they were first aired but are so glad to have seen them since. The actors did a first class job but they could hardly have failed to with such brilliant material. It will never become dated which, like Dad's Army and 'Allo, 'Allo, is true proof of comedy genius. Not to be missed!

Brilliant and rewarding

A fantastic collection of rarely heard but important works by composers lost to the world through the senseless and horrifying belief that ridding the world of Jews would make the world a better place. I have sought this collection for a long time and so have been thrilled to have finally run it earth! It includes a marvellous performance of Krasa's children's opera Brundibar put on many times by children in the Terezin Concentration Camp after which each cast was consigned to Auschwitz. I urge anyone in the least interested in the music of the 1930s or of these composers to buy this set; you will not be disappointed.

Not what it said 'on the tin'!

I would have liked it even more had there been any Ronald Binge on the disc which is the reason I bought it...but there wasn't anything by him on it!
