Great to collect despite the import price.
Even though it's basically a small prepainted model, it is nicely detailed. The pictures online just don't do it justice. In person, this kit looks amazing. The whole collection is fun to collect and display as well. The price however, does not justify getting all of these kits but being that it is imported from Japan you'll have to decide for yourself how bad you want these for your collection. If you happen to have friends in Japan, are stationed there or going to Japan on vac., that would be probably the best way to acquire these.

Superb Decals! Super thin and accurate. I should know I worked on one of the depicted cobras!
Fantastic decals. I can't stress enough how accurate and thin they are. I used to work on one of the cobras depicted by the decals (tail # 445.) It sure brought memories! The decals are beautiful and are just perfect. Highly recommended.

Best 1/48 Hughes 500MD kit available for the $!
The kit itself is your standard 1/48 academy 500md asw kit but with resin and P.E. to make the cover kit. The kit features fine recessed panel lines with parts to make 3 versions with the included resin skids. The detail of the resin and P.E. is outstanding. It includes P.E. for the instruments and the attachment points for the torpedo amongs other details like tail fins. As far as the extra parts on the kit go, it has two different skids 4 pilot figures and A couple extra parts I can't think of at this moment. Overall, get one if you can find one. You can always do the magnum P.I. version with this kit which is why I originally bought it for. Highly recommended!!
