    If You Like Lichens
This book was written as a museum book. As such, it addresses a general audience. That is not a bad thing, especially when it is this well done. If you are a beginner, someone who wonders what that yucky stuff growing on that tree really is, this is a good introduction. Only problem for a lot of us is that it is written for a UK audience. Not a big shortcoming, as most lichens grow all over, but a few references to the US would make us feel better. Chauvinistic, yes, but aren't we all.

    Theology of War
Well written book about a much neglected subject. If you are a 19th century history nerd, this is almost a fascinating book. Tough to call a book about theology and exegesis (sp?) fascinating but so much of the content is new to me that I find it so. Obviously strongly recommended.

    Ocean Nerd??
Fantastic book--if you love tiny things that swim in the ocean. Specifically the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Clearly written, beautifully illustrated, really good keys. But understand, this book is for someone who is willing to work to collect the organisms discussed, often have a microscope or dissecting scope to see them, and know some biology to begin with. But if you are at all interested, this book is more than worth the price. Rarely do you see this type of book this well written. Real winner.
