Bargain!

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this product. The bobbins are rigid and only flex slightly under finger pressure. The retaining sides are thicker than many of the cheaper brands and of course being plastic they wont go rusty! They are smooth with no plastic injection mould seams in positions that interfere with operation. The box is well designed and fairly robust. I'm using it rather than throwing it away. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Easy to set up.....a few very minor problems.

Installation was easy and documentation is sufficient to set up the system. Two minor issues: 1. Discovered that the measurement via the current isn't quite spot on as when producing more than adequate solar energy it still consumes a (very) small amount of power from the grid. Calibration issue for current clamp? 2. I had to replace one of the screws holding the wires in place because the thread on it seemed to be locked and wouldn't screw in to clamp the wire. On removing the screw it appeared that the screw had been stripped. This is probably a minor QC issue. Now it is installed it works well. It is very responsive. e.g. when my washing machine is running, you can see that it switches power to the immersion heater every time the washing machine pauses. An alternative would be to recharge a battery pack with the excess energy. Overall an impressive device and worth purchasing if you have excess capacity.

Good value board. Needs care with soldering capacitors main + - connections

These boards are well made. However as a side effect of this, getting the solder to flow onto the main power tracks proved difficult with my normal soldering iron. I initially turned the temperature up in order to try and get this to work smoothly, but this had the side effect of splattering the flux around the circuit board. Needed a larger soldering iron capable of transferring heat faster and more efficiently to the board in order to get the solder to flow cleanly. The 2 support holes were not problematic due to the limited size of the pads. Now being used as a 12V/5V battery pack for a remote controlled toy.
