Raw, real, sad and beautiful
I read ‘Stay if you can’ and was blown away, and looking for the next book in the trilogy. Found this. Helga Flatland gets under the skin of her characters, she lets you know what makes that skin crawl, sweat, relax, get goose bumps.
This is a very sad book, and I find such books hard to read in the dark months of the year. Painfully real family story, very well written. A book both thoughtful and visceral, with the weather and landscape of Norway as the backdrop. I felt Anne’s skin needing her last swim.
