Good info but.....
The book gives good, general information about the Biblical Feasts and how they point to Jesus. However, the author then goes on to say that we don't have to keep the feasts... something that I've never seen in the Bible. I know the feasts aren't as important as TRUST and LOVE but they are still commands per Jesus's own words. I suggest that we consider the question: What Would Jesus Do? Yes, He kept ALL of the Father's commands and celebrated all the feasts and so did Paul. Both are followers of the Most High God, not usurpers of his authority. It is a joy to keep His commands. If we truly FEAR God (fear being the beginning of all knowledge), we will keep all his commands to the best of our ability. Jesus says "These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others." in Matthew 23:23 speaking of practicing trust, love, mercy, justice but not neglecting all other commands (wearing Tzitzits, Sabbath, Passover, feasts, etc). It saddens me to see Frieds of Isreal organization recommending this book. How can you be a friend of Isreal if you tell observant Jews that their feasts are nothing more than cultural. Great book series! Innocent and factual.
We love the Dad & I Were Ranchers series by Ralph Moody, including this book, Man of the Family. It is essentially the boy-version of Little House on the Prairie. While reading to my children, I sometimes skip a sentence when I think the subject matter gets too mature for them. Overall, it is a very well written series and particularly good for homeschooling families or emerging readers.
